Therapy for Nurses & Healthcare Workers
You spend your shifts managing other people's worst moments. Therapy is a space where yours finally get the attention they deserve.
What it is
Therapy for nurses and healthcare workers is care delivered with a real understanding of what your work involves: the physical and emotional toll of 12-hour shifts, the weight of patient outcomes you carry home, the moral injury of a system that often asks more than it gives, and the culture of your profession that treats asking for help as weakness. You will not have to explain any of that here. We start from it.
How it works
Sessions are built around your schedule. Telehealth available statewide means therapy no longer requires a commute or a block of time you do not have. We use evidence-based approaches, primarily CBT and trauma-informed methods, tailored to what you are carrying: whether that is burnout, compassion fatigue, moral injury, anxiety, depression, or simply the cumulative weight of a career in care. Many nurses also find that understanding how to use their hospital insurance benefits makes therapy significantly more affordable than expected.
Is this for you?
Therapy may be a fit if you are a nurse or healthcare worker who is:
- Running on empty, exhausted in a way that sleep is no longer fixing
- Carrying the weight of patient losses, near-misses, or traumatic events
- Feeling morally compromised by staffing shortages or institutional decisions
- Numb to things that used to affect you, or more irritable than you want to be
- Struggling to leave work at work, replaying shifts and dreading the next one
- Simply ready for a space that is yours, not your patients' or your colleagues'
What you can expect
- A therapist who understands healthcare culture without having to be educated about it
- Evidence-based treatment for burnout, moral injury, compassion fatigue, and trauma
- Telehealth scheduling built around 12-hour shifts and irregular hours
- Guidance on using your hospital insurance benefits to offset therapy costs
- Walking distance from major Upper East Side medical centers
- A confidential, private space entirely separate from your professional life
Common questions
Nurses & Healthcare, answered
This is one of the most common things healthcare workers bring in, and it is a sign of how deeply the profession's culture has shaped you. Caring for others does not exempt you from needing care yourself. If anything, it increases the exposure. You are not seeking special accommodation; you are taking care of someone who has been carrying an enormous load.
This is exactly why we offer telehealth. Sessions from home, a private office, your car before a shift. No commute, no parking, no time lost. We also work to build a schedule that accommodates rotating shifts as much as possible.
Many do. Hospital and health-system plans often include meaningful out-of-network mental health benefits, which means you pay the session fee and submit for reimbursement. The real out-of-pocket cost is frequently much lower than the sticker price. We provide detailed superbills and can walk you through the process.
Burnout is depletion: you have given more than you can sustain. Moral injury is a wound from being forced to act against your values: short-staffing that meant a patient did not get what they needed, institutional decisions that conflicted with your ethics. Both are real, both are treatable, and they often coexist.
No. Therapy is completely confidential, with only the narrow legal exceptions for safety that we explain at the start. Telehealth adds a further layer of privacy. Nothing about your care is accessible to your employer, hospital, or licensing board in the normal course of treatment.
Yes. Our office is conveniently located near NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, Lenox Hill Hospital, Hospital for Special Surgery, and Memorial Sloan Kettering, walkable or a short ride from any of them. Telehealth is also available across New York State for nurses working elsewhere.
